The Moi University Choir, among other clubs, plays a big part in the establishment of the extra-curricular sphere at the university. Drawing membership from almost all schools at the main campus, the choir constitutes students with different socio-cultural backgrounds. Conforming to the university’s good practice of nurturing innovation and talent, the choir provides ground for talent identification, development and effective utilization.

The Moi University Choir since its inception has been performing at the Kenya National Music Festivals. The choir expanded the group to include a dance band. The dance band now called the Moi University Band is up and running. Upon resuming its participation in the festival in August, 2012, the choir won many prestigious awards including the best gospel zilizopendwa arrangement (Ombi langu), best arrangement zilizopenda outside Kenya (Kabibi), Instrumental Ensemble, chivoti solo, Public Speaking-English and many more classes.

The success of the Moi University Choir puts it among the best university choirs in the Republic of Kenya. With its slogan ‘Fly sky high’ the choir is focused on more success in choral and instrumental performance and also coming up with projects in music making and presentation geared towards the attainment of Vision 2030 and also defending the university core values of fostering teamwork and enhancing a culture of peace.
